You may wish to synchronize your Gmail account with your Microsoft Outlook for many reasons. In order for that Gmail account to sync with Microsoft Outlook, the IMAP server needs to be enabled. To permit IMAP, open your internet browser and log into your Gmail account. Under Logon Information, type your user name (it can your Gmail address) and password within the relevant fields. Check the Remember password box to save lots of yourself from entering password repeatedly every time you login to your Gmail account in Microsoft Outlook. Do not check the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) box. Hit the better Settings button.

Click the Outgoing Server tab and check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Also click to select Use same settings as my incoming mail server. Highlight the Advanced tab, type ‘993’ inside the Incoming server (IMAP) field and ‘587’ within the Outgoing server (SMTP) field. Click to choose SSL through the drop-down arrow close to Use the following form of encrypted connection below both incoming servers.

Select TLS through the Use the following kind of encrypted connection option under the Outgoing server (SMTP). To prevent facing a server timeout error when sending/receiving emails, adjust the Server Timeouts to maximum. To do this, you can slide the slider to the right hand side. You can also check the box Leave a duplicate of message on server to let your messages remain presented on the Gmail server. It will help you to access all of your emails from your webmail account from anywhere in the world.

When done, hit the OK button to exit this window. You are going to go back to the earlier window showing all your information that you just filled in. hit the gmail mail server to check your email account settings. If all of the settings are correct and the connection goes successful, you will notice this message Congratulations! All settings completed successfully. Click close to carry on. Hit the Close button as instructed and close and reopen Microsoft Outlook to save the alterations.

Select your Gmail account and you will visit a new number of different folders like Inbox, Drafts, and Spam etc. Selecting your Gmail account only takes place when your multiple accounts set up within your Outlook. If Gmail will be the only account you have in Microsoft Outlook, you will need not create the selection. Hit the Send/Receive button to begin downloading the emails for your Gmail Inbox.

In case you are a non-US resident (I mean if you are part of some other country but not for the US), you might need to use ‘’ for that incoming mail server and ‘’ for your outgoing mail server.

You can sync Gmail with Microsoft Outlook using POP server also. However, this is going to be noted that POP server offers only one-way sync for your emails and other features etc. This means the changes you are going to make inside your mxbhwk Outlook is not going to reflect within your web-based Gmail account. On the other hand, IMAP offers two-way sync for Gmail account. Thus IMAP is preferred over POP.

If you do not choose the Leave a duplicate of message on server option, all of your smtp server settings will be downloaded in your Microsoft Outlook and will never be available on the webmail account. Suppose some day you are away from your computer and you want to access your emails from a third party public computer (with internet connection), you are going to struggle to see any new emails as they have been downloaded for your Microsoft Outlook on your home pc.
