6 Thoughts: Alabama vs. LSU for the BCS National Championship

Just 6 longer than normal thoughts on tonight’s BCS National Championship. Who’s going to win?

1. Alabama offense vs. LSU defense – The advantage goes to the LSU defense despite Trent Richardson being one of the best running backs in the country for Bama. The bottom line is that no matter how good Bama’s offensive line is, LSU’s defensive line is just better. The LSU defense will pack 8 men in the box and make Bama QB, A.J. McCarron, beat them, which he can’t…I mean have you seen who’s in LSU’s secondary(Reid, Matheiu, and Claiborne). Bama only has one person to throw the ball to and that’s Marquise Maze and he’s nothing more than a slot receiver. Advantage – LSU’s defense

2. LSU offense vs. Alabama defense – Bama’s defense has 9 players out of 11 on their starting defense that will be playing in the NFL next year and that is unheard of. I have to expect that they are prepared for LSU to run the option more this time around. If LSU has the Michael Jordan’s of college secondaries then Bama has the Kobe Bryant of college football secondaries. LSU has a very good WRs but against the Bama pass rush and secondary Jarrett Lee or Jordan Jefferson aren’t going to be able to get the ball off. Bama has only allowed 9 touchdowns all season long.Advantage: Bama defense

3. LSU special teams vs. Alabama special teams – Well…we know Bama’s kickers Cade Foster and Jeremy Shelley both suck. We know LSU’s kicker Drew Alleman can make kicks under pressure and that their punter Brad Wing has every bit to Austrailian Rules Rugby I don’t give a fuck in him. Oh yeah, there’s this guy for LSU returning punts named Tyrann Mathieu — he’s damn good. Advantage: LSU

4. Nick Saban vs. Les Miles – About two years ago, they wanted Les Miles head down there in Baton now he’s the man huh? You college football fans kill me. Nick Saban is an awesome coach and his players will be ready to play. My right mind says Saban, but experience and gut instict is telling me to roll with Miles. I’ve seen him do things at Oklahoma State with far less talent than he has at LSU. Les will find a way. Advantage: LSU

5. Last Game/Rematch – The last game came down to field goals. In all honesty, Alabama played a better game, but they just couldn’t put the ball through the uprights. Trent Richardson running 89 yards against 8 and 9 man fronts all evening was quite impressive. It’s really hard to beat a team twice in college football. You don’t expect to see the team again so you roll the dice, throw the kitchen sink at em, and even consider an indecent proposal with your wife or girlfriend for an extra first down.

6. Whatever Happens – The SEC will have it’s 6th straight BCS national champion. The Bulls even had a year in between their three peats. This conference will have gone straight through after tonight. It’s not rocket science, recruit big defensive lineman that can run like linebackers and offensive lineman that can block better than bricks, Leggos, and that ugly fat girl with all the cute friends at the club. The Big 12, Big Ten, and Pac 12 are going to have to keep their skill players local but venture down below the Mason Dixie into the Delta for their lineman if they want this SEC Supremacy to stop.

Guess I’ll make a prediction….LSU 17 – 14.

That’s all I got,
