Justin Blackmon meet Dwayne Goodrich, Reggie Williams, and Rashaun Woods. They all were NFL busts. You don’t want to be like any of these guys. Or do you? You’re mugshot says yes…I hope you heart says no.
Mr. Goodrich was a third round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2000. Dwayne played corner for the Cowboys from 2000 – 2002, he was a second round pick that didn’t live up to his potential because he partied too much. Good kid with bad priorities.
Those priorities ended Goodrich’s career when he killed two people with his car in a hit and run because he was drunk driving. He did seven and a half years in jail for criminally negligent homicide.
This is your second DUI arrest in two years. You blood alcohol level was three times the limit and you literally blew off the charts.
So…after watching and learning about Dwayne Goodrich, you don’t want to be like him right? No…ok, awesome. Moving on.
I get it…it’s party time and it’s the off season. You just got drafted and you feel like you’ve got Hov and Diddy money in your pockets. Cool. Being from Oklahoma myself, I’m rooting for you to make it in the NFL, even if you went to the that one school in Stillwater. But let’s just say you don’t make it in the NFL….would you rather be Rashaun Woods or Reggie Williams?
Both Williams and Woods were drafted in 2004. Williams was the 9th overall pick drafted by your Jacksonville Jaguars. Woods was also a first round pick being selected 31st overall by the San Francisco 49ers. Woods went to your Alma mater, Oklahoma State, he’s the guy that had all those receiving records you shattered over the past two years. Both WRs were NFL busts but for different reasons. Williams had all the talent in the world, but he desired partying more than playing at an elite level. His work ethic was questioned more than Tim Tebow’s ability to throw a deep out pass. He was arrested a few times for DWI issues as well. Woods flamed out of the league, because he just wasn’t good enough. Respected by his peers and his family name still intact. Woods “made it to the league” Williams “was the immature kid that partied his way out of the league”.
Like I said, I want you to succeed. If you succeed more high school players from Oklahoma can succeed. But if you’re not going to make it in the league you’d much rather follow in the footsteps of Rashaun Woods and not Dwyane Goodrich or Reggie Williams.
You have no excuse to drink and drive. You have the money to hire a driver. Yes, Jacksonville has drivers, a good friend of mine played for the Jaguars and used one all the time. They don’t have private driving services in Stillwater or Ardmore? I’m sure they have something in Stillwater, if not you are were “the man” on campus you can easily pay one of your boys to drive you around and the same goes for when you’re back home in Ardmore.
Don’t drink and drive. Drink and be driven. Please.
That’s all I got,
