6 Thoughts: Notre Dame vs. Alabama aka Catholics vs. Cousins

by: CJ Clayborne

I’m calling an upset tonight in the BCS National Championship game tonight. Notre Dame is built for this fist fight to go toe to toe with Alabama and come out victorious.

1. Notre Dame has an awesome defensive line with Stephon Tuitt and company. They are also solid across their entire two deep. Georgia lacked depth in their front seven and simply wore down in the second half. This won’t happen with Notre Dame, it’s going to be a bar fight on North’s sides.

2. ND QB Everett Golson is mobile, it is very had to beat Alabama’s blitz package with a pocket passer. While the ND freshman is no Johnny Football he is evasive enough to keep Bama on edge.

3. Notre Dame is so good up front on defensive that they rarely have to commit a saftey to run support. If Alabama offensive lineman, Chance Warmack and company are able to get Bama moving on the ground and ND has to load the box, it could be a long day for ND.

4. Alabama’s DBs are not as good as in years past. They have been exposed like nudes on Twitter when they’ve been pressed into single coverage. Dre Kilpatrick and Kareem Jackson aren’t walking through that door. Bama will not hold up against an underrated ND passing attack.

5. This is Catholics vs. Cousins but more importantly, Miami, USC, and Florida State have all failed in being back to back champions. I don’t see that “it factor” with this Alabama team.

6. The X-Factor? Will it be Notre Dame’s George Atkinson III or Bama’s Kevin Norwood? Who is the player that will step up for either side? There will be an unsung hero tonight who emerges may decide the game.
