Nike Joins Michelle Obama To Bring Physical Activity Back to Schools

This is a pretty dope announcement. Checkout what Nike and The First Lady are doing.

On February 28, NIKE, Inc. President & CEO Mark Parker will join First Lady Michelle Obama to make a major announcement to bring physical activity back to schools.
Studies show kids need at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day to stay healthy, but they are spending an average of seven or more hours a day in front of a screen, and only 1 in 3 kids are active daily. In addition to the health benefits of an active lifestyle, research indicates that regular physical activity can improve test scores, classroom behavior and attendance. Yet, only 4% of elementary schools, 8% of middle schools and 2% of high schools currently offer daily P.E. and only 9 states require recess in elementary schools.

Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams. Sure, this is an ambitious goal. But with your help, we can do it.

I love it! I can’t imagine not having physical activity in school when I was growing up. Hell, I almost had a heart attack at 9 years old when I found out that once you got to 4th grade you didn’t get two recesses anymore, because 1st – 3rd grades we got two.
