Vince Young left the University of Texas after the 2005-2006 season. Since then the University of Texas hasn’t had a quality QB under center. The University of Texas, the school that’s in the same state the produces the best high school football talent in America. It’s freaking Texas for crying out loud. They started the 7 on 7 passing leagues. I know football recruiting isn’t an exact science, but come on…it’s been seven years since the Longhorns have had a quality QB. Hell, people have had stuff fall off their credit reports faster than Texas should have had a blue chip QB fall in their lap. Here are my thoughts on Texas’ QB woes and Mack Brown’s incompetence.
1. He recruited Robert Griffin III to be a defensive back.
2. He didn’t recruit Johnny Manziel at all.
3. The blue chip QB he did land instead of Griffin III and Manziel was Garrett Gilbert, who was terrible and transferred.
4. He continues to play David Ash instead of Case McCoy who is clearly the better QB.
5. We might as well kick Mack while he’s down. Matt Stafford and Andrew Luck were both Texas HS QBs and neither one of them went to Texas.
6. FSU’s new dope QB, Jameis Winston said that he wanted to attend Texas. He stated that he reached out to them and never heard anything back. Now, on College Football Daily today, Noles head coach, Jimbo Fisher, said that Mack Brown did recruit Winston. Texas may have recruited Winston, but it was far too late.
