I saw Deontay Greenberry in person this Summer at The Opening, which is a 7 on 7 football tournament hosted by Nike. Pick an elite WR, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson etc…as a Senior in HS, Greenberry is on par with all of them. Which is why it was so surprising that he chose to play football at the University of Houston today over the likes of Notre Dame, Alabama, and USC. Here are six reasons why he chose Houston.
1. The University of Houston offered him the Texas State Lottery if he signed.
2. The school promised him all the oil from Dallas to South Padre if he signed.
3. He will not have to redshirt and will most likely start right away.
4. Houston passes the ball more than Rajon Rondo, Drew Brees and Mark Jackson combined.
5. Who’s going to stop him in Conference USA
6. Greenberry, from Fresno, has a great relationship with former Fresno State fullback Jamie Christian who is currently the Cougars assistant coach.
