Indy didn’t save the best for last, they got rid of ‘em first. Peyton Manning was released by the Colts on Wednesday. Colts Owner, Jim Irsay, stated that it wasn’t about money which is up for debate. What is not up for debate is the reason for several marquee players being released on Friday.
The Colts cut ties with Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark, Melvin Bullit, and Gary Brackett. Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon are both free agents that will not be resigned. Not to mention, long time offensive lineman, Jeff Saturday and Ryan Diem are also both free agents and will most likely not be resigned. The root of all is this evil? Payments and Peyton. These players are past their primes and owed more money than they are worth. Also, these players are so used to Peyton Manning the organization doesn’t want any old blood possibly contaminating the new blood in Andrew Luck.
The Colts have already made wholesale changes to their front office firing GM Bill Polian and head coach Jim Caldwell.
So as of right now, a powerhouse college football team could probably beat the Colts’ current roster. This is actually a smart move by the Colts. If you are going to rebuild, then you should leave no stone/player from the old regime unturned.
There will no doubt be new blood in Indy this season. To say the team is getting a new horseshoe is an understatement, they’re getting a new horse.
That’s all I got,
