Spatted Up Freshness from Nike

If you’ve been reading 6Magazine for a while you know we’ve always been talking about players being “spatted up”. Technically, it’s when a player tapes up his shoe. Figuratively, it’s when a player just looks fresh on the field. It can be his chinstrap, wristbands, arm sleeves, his towel, his sock game, cleats, tape on his shoe, visor, etc. If he looks cool on the field, he’s spatted up.

Back in the day, Nuemann actually made spats for shoes, this is where the term comes from. I haven’t seen a pair of Nuemann gloves for quite sometime. I did some research and can’t find the company anywhere, so let’s assume they’ve gone out of business. The good news is that spats are back, the better news is that the Swoosh is responsible.

Nike is calling them “Nike Str8 Cleat Spat” and classifying them as a Men’s Football Cleat Jacket. and not spats but it’s the same thing. I can’t wait to see players rocking these in the fall. Check them out.

If you’re trying to grab a pair, get them at the Nike Store online.

That’s all I got,
