New Hats for the Arizona Wildcats

New Hats for the Arizona Wildcats

The University of Arizona unveiled their new alternative helmets for this season. The teams official colors are red, white and blue…this helmet — copper.

The University of Arizona athletic director, Greg Byrne, explains why,

“Copper is not only associated with our great state’s mining history, but it has influenced architectural design on our campus, including our athletic facilities – most notably the ring at the top of the McKale Center, and the future North End Zone Football Complex. As such we embrace the idea that as the University of Arizona we will incorporate copper into a special helmet design to represent our state and University.”

I’m not sure about this. I don’t like it…but I’ll reserve comment for when I see it on the field. When that is hasn’t been announced yet..it’d make sense to do it in Week 2 vs. Oklahoma State or in the season finale vs. in-state rival Arizona State.

That’s all I got,
