What if Robert Griffin III went to Stanford

What if Robert Griffin III went to Stanford

This past weekend, we saw Robert Griffin III realize his dreams and be drafted into the NFL as he was chosen 2nd overall by the Washington Redskins. Griffin has done a lot in the past four years — won the Big 12 400m hurdle championship has a freshman, overcome an ACL injury as a sophomore, beat Texas and OU in the same season and win the Heisman Trophy. But what if Griffin had actually gone to Stanford out of high school?

Griffin had the talent and grades to go to Stanford. Jim Harbaugh was the coach at the time recruiting him so he probably saw a lot of former San Diego Toreros and as of today current San Francisco 49ers backup QB, Josh Johnson(Uh oh Alex Smith….). RG3 is clearly better than Johnson.

Of course RG3 was in the graduating class (2008) as Andrew Luck. Rivals ranked RG3 as the #4 All-Purpose QB in the country and Luck as the #4 Pro-Style QB. Who wins the starting job at Stanford? Conventional wisdom tells you that Andrew Luck starts because Harbaugh ran a pro-style system and RG3 could have easily moved to WR. I’m almost positive that RG3 wins the job and not because he’s better, but the fact that he was more versatile. The college game is not the NFL. The team with the better athletes win. Andrew Luck is a damn good athlete, but come on…RG3 is dope.

So…here’s how the story goes….

2008 – Both RG3 and Andrew Luck redshirt.

2009 – RG3 barely edges out Andrew Luck for the starting job and takes the Cardinals to a
10-3 record with a bowl win. Andrew Luck announces he’s leaving Stanford. He’s
being heavily recruited by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and a of other schools like the
out of place white man at the all-black strip club because they know that boy is
money. So is Blinn Jr. College star, Cam Newton. Luck finally signs with Oklahoma
State.

2010 – RG3 balls out….beats Oregon to give Stanford an undefeated record and a matchup
for the BCS championship vs. the Auburn Tigers and Cam Newton. Before the BCS
championship goes down, Cam Newton wins the Heisman trophy over RG3, but RG3 and
Cardinals win the championship.

2011 – BCS ship in hand ready and to bolt for the pros, RG3 stays in school to return for
his redshirt junior season. RG3 beats Oregon again and leads Stanford to a second
straight BCS championship game. LSU is too bad on defense and Stanford
doesn’t have enough dogs on defense to hang with the Tigers. Andrew Luck is
chilling on the bench in Stillwater waiting for his turn in 2012, howitzer in body.

Oh yeah, and as of last Thursday, Robert Griffin is a member of the Indianpolis Colts taken #1 overall.

Cool Story Bro…That’s all I got,
