Here are my quick hits and jukes from Championship Weekend.
AFC Championship Game: Ravens vs. Patriots
If I told you that Joe Flacco would actually outplay Tom Brady and the Ravens would still lose you’d probably never read my site again and wish for me a special place in Dante’s inferno for such a stupid statement. Well, it happened…the Ravens D got it in! Brady didn’t throw a single touchdown. We talked all last week about how good the Broncos defense and Brady lit them up for three touchdowns in the first half. The Ravens came to play.
Flacco played better than what he normally plays. Torrey Smith showed up this game as well. The Ravens were not outplayed, they simply did not capitalize on opportunities the Pats gave them and WRs let Flacco down. The blame will be placed on kicker Billy Cundiff, but the Ravens as a team lost that game.
Random, but I wish Randy Moss was just a tad bit quieter….because if he was he’d still be a Patriot and have a chance to win a ring.
NFC Championship Game: Giants vs. 49ers
Both teams had plenty chances to win the game. I called it in my 6 Thoughts article yesterday, that whoever won the battle of Carlos Rogers vs. Victor Cruz that their team would win the game. Cruz had 10 catches for 142 yards and 8 of those were on Rogers.
Alex Smith didn’t play bad, but he wasn’t the Alex Smith we’ve seen all season. He tightened up and didn’t let it fly. Also some of that could go to play calling as well. The 49ers ran the ball really well and just stopped. I don’t know why.
The blame for the 49ers game will be placed on Kyle Williams, but to be quite honest…even if he doesn’t make those two crucial errors, the Giants would have won in regulation. They had control of the entire game.
Now we get a 2007 Super Bowl rematch…Giants vs. Patriots….the Big Apple and Beantown are overjoyed.
That’s all I got,
