RIP the hip-hop legend, DJ Screw. On November 16, 2000 we lost a rap legend. Robert Earl Davis Jr. introduced the world Chopped and Screwed music. Houston, Texas was already on the hip-hop map, but Screw’s influence made sure the city shined. He sadly died from a codeine overdose. Before he passed, he left a huge impact on hip-hop through his mixtapes, original style and the Screwed Up Click which featured rappers Lil Flip, Z-Ro, Trae, UGK, Big Hawk, Fat Pimp and many more.
One of his best albums was June 27th, so we’re gonna show love today by featuring his hit song that EVERYONE who is from Texas and a fan of Screw knows about, June 27th. Checkout these rare images of DJ Screw on the day of his biggest album and listen to the song below.
