Yes! Football is finally back. Every single Monday of the football season, I’ll be doing what I’ve been doing for the past several years. Monday Morning Cornerback. Just my quick hits and jukes from the football weekend.
College Top 25
Citadel vs. FSU – Florida State won of course, but the most disturbing thing about this game was Citadel offensive lineman, Victor Hill’s comments on Facebook.
“I played in the game last night and also contributed to the injury list and that was just the mindset going into the game,” Hill wrote in his post. “Me and my offensive line brothers preached to each other all week that we would be going for knees from the first play to the last play with the A-backs included. We saw it as if they [won’t] respect us for blocking them then we’ll make them respect us for cutting them!”
He then backpedaled faster than Deion Sanders and apologized.
“I would like to sincerely apologize for my statements this morning,” Hill said in his statement. “I am both embarrassed and ashamed of my comments. They reflect in no way, shape or form how I am taught or coached to perform. I am truly sorry for my immature comments that were made out of frustration … I apologize to Coach Jimbo Fisher, his players and the FSU fans for my negative remarks.”
Florida Atlantic vs. Alabama – Shame on you for this cupcake game on your schedule Alabama.
Michigan State vs. Oregon – For Oregon to be down nine points in the third quarter and score the final 28 points is pretty damn impressive. Also, Michigan State is going to run away with the Big Ten championship and it won’t even be close.
Oklahoma vs. Tulsa – BOOMER SOONER all day. I’m a homer and I don’t care.
San Jose State vs. Auburn – Nice for you to finally join us Quan Bray.
Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State – The spread was +10.5 VA Tech and they won by 14…on the road. I’m not even sure if Braxton Miller could have overcome that Hokie defense on Saturday.
Lamar vs. Texas A&M – I didn’t watch a lick of this game.
Northwestern State vs. Baylor – (Read previous game)
Memphis vs. UCLA – It’s early, we’re only two games into the season but UCLA seems overrated.
Sam Houston State vs. LSU – You don’t do the Heisman pose when you’re playing Sam Houston State.
USC vs. Stanford – I could have sworn I was watching an SEC game and not a Pac-12 game. I became a Pat Hayden fan over the weekend. Why is Stanford not playing like Stanford? They’re getting too cute. They had six chances in the redzone and only came away with 10 points.
Ole Miss vs. Vandy – Ole Miss might not win the SEC but they are going to give a lot of teams headaches.
Michigan vs. Notre Dame – Brady Hoke is in trouble and Everett Golson is back!
Arizona State vs. New Mexico – Didn’t catch any of this game.
Western Illinois vs. Wisconsin – Games like these make me wish we could just jump into Week 5 of the season, you know when the really good games start and are played consistently.
McNeese State vs. Nebraska – McNeese State shouldn’t have been in the game with Nebraska to begin with, but this play made it all worth it.
Kansas State vs. Iowa State – Does Bill Snyder make the college football coaches Mt. Rushmore?
East Carolina vs. South Carolina – Yeah, after watching two games, UCLA and USC (University of South Carolina) are the two most overrated teams so far.
San Diego State vs. North Carolina – Didn’t watch this game either.
South Carolina State vs. Clemson – Come on dogg…why are they even on the schedule.
Missouri vs. Toledo – Maty Mauck is going to make some noise this year.
Murray State vs. Louisville – Again. Why are these cupcake games on teams’ schedules.
National Football League
Packers vs. Seahawks – ….Umm the Seahawks actually got better after winning the Super Bowl last season and it’s obvious.
Saints vs. Falcons – Well, I didn’t see this coming. I thought the Saints would win this one easily. They’ve got to play better defense, but give Matt Ryan credit, he balled out.
Bengals vs. Ravens – The Bengals have a better roster and this game shouldn’t have even been close. Andy Dalton has to start producing touchdowns and not field goals.
Bills vs. Bears – This wasn’t a bad loss for the Bears, they’re still going to make the playoffs. It’s just that the Bills defense if just that good.
Redskins vs. Texans – RGIII made Houston’s defense look amazing.
Titans vs. Chiefs – If Dwayne Bowe plays the outcome of this game is totally different. A.J. Jenkins is not it, and will most likely be released once Bowe is back. Alex Smith threw two jump balls to Green that turned into picks and neither of those were Smith’s fault.
Patriots vs. Dolphins – I really have no clue what to make of this game. I can’t tell if this is the beginning of the end for the Pats or if this is the Dolphins’ year. I need to see more of both teams. The Revis vs. Wallace matchup was fun to watch though.
Raiders vs. Jets – This game was just terrible. Ugly football from both teams.
Jaguars vs. Eagles – Well…It looked like the Jags were going to win the Super Bowl and then Philly adjusted in the second half and scored 34 straight.
Browns vs. Steelers – Le’Veon Bell is going to be a player.
Vikings vs. Rams – The plan was to stop Adrian Peterson. Job well done. They forgot about Cordarrelle Patterson though.
49ers vs. Cowboys – Welp…the Cowboys look like the Cowboys. Football is back, like for real.
Colts vs. Broncos – Can I just say how much I love watching these two teams play. I feel like I’m watching
