Monday Morning Cornerback: Week 3

It was a great weekend of football as usual. I didn’t expect the college games to be as good as they were and you knew the NFL was going to have some gems. Here are my quick hits and jukes from this weekend’s football action.

Auburn vs. Kansas State – It was clear Auburn was the better team. Can we get D’Haquille Williams to be consistent…goodness.

Clemson vs. Florida State – The Noles are a good team…with or without Jameis Winston. Regardless of his lack of maturity, it was a sight to see Jameis Winston being a great teammate on the sidelines.

Oregon vs. Washington State – This was what the ancient football philosophers call a “trap game”.

Florida vs. Alabama – Remember when this game used to be competitive?

Oklahoma vs. West Virginia – Great win for the Sooners on the road. It was much closer than it looked, but OU is the most complete team in the country right now.

Texas A&M vs. SMU – Kenny Trill is not a fluke. Wait til he goes to Tuscaloosa later this season.

Mississippi State vs. LSU – LSU is playing with toddlers right now, which is expected when you lose 18 underclassmen to the NFL in the past two seasons.

Eastern Michigan vs. Michigan State – Crazy that the best football school in Michigan is not in Ann Arbor.

Troy vs. Georgia – I’m tired of these SEC schools and their bullshit schedules.

South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt – South Carolina has got to shore up their defense because if Vandy is putting up 34 points on them, I don’t want to see what the rest of the SEC is going to do.

Indiana vs. Missouri – Congrats to Indiana. It’s the fourth time in school history that they’ve beaten a ranked opponent and the first time they’ve done it in 10 years. They beat the Tigers on the road at that.

Bowling Green vs. Wisconsin – I didn’t catch a lick of this game and apparently, I didn’t need to either.

Virginia vs. BYU – The Cougars beat the same UVA team that tested UCLA and beat Louisville. Every tournament needs a Cinderella, BYU could be this year’s Boise State.

Miami vs. Nebraska – My 12 year old self was excited to see this game on the schedule. The game was okay, but the games of yesteryear might not ever be topped.

NFL

Bucs vs. Falcons – Congrats to Devin Hester, the Return Gawd.

Chargers vs. Bills – After a great win over the Super Bowl champions last weekend, the Super Chargers came all the way East dogged out the Bills which is no easy feat.

Cowboys vs. Rams – Any good team would have put the Cowboys away with a 21-0 lead, but the Rams gon’ Ram.

Redskins vs. Eagles – I’m trying to find out if Chip Kelly needs Nick Foles or Nick Foles needs Chip Kelly. Either way, they both work very well together. Foles got beat up like he stole something and he still stood in the pocket like a G and threw strikes.

Texans vs. Giants – Welcome to the 2014 NFL season New York Giants.

Vikings vs. Saints – And now, the Teddy Bridgewater era begins. They Vikes have a great one.

Titans vs. Bengals – For all the crap we give Andy Dalton, we must show the kid love. He’s been playing at a high level and he hasn’t taken a sack all season long.

Ravens vs. Browns – I wasted about an hour of my life watching this game, and I can’t get that time back. This game was very boring.

Packers vs. Lions – Mike McCarthy’s coaching is falling on deaf ears in Titletown.

Colts vs. Jaguars – Hey Blake Bortles, Hey! Welcome to the party bro. The Pro Bowls and Playoffs are in the back, go help yourself.

Raiders vs. Patriots – Man…the Patriots look funny in the light.

49ers vs. Cardinals – Drew Stanton looks like this year’s Luke McCown.

Broncos vs. Seahawks – This game wasn’t as close as it looked. The Seahawks outplayed the Broncos pretty easily.

Chiefs vs. Dolphins – Jamaal Charles better hurry up and get back on the field before Knile Davis takes his job for good.

Steelers vs. Panthers – Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton might as well be fraternal twins. They play QB the exact same. Game ball goes to the Steelers offensive line though.
