It was a great weekend of football as usual. Here are my quick hits and jukes from this past weekend’s football action.
UCLA vs. Arizona State – Welcome back to the Heisman Trophy conversation Brett Hundley.
Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State – This game was an old Western shootout and easily the most exciting game of the weekend.
FSU vs. NC State – It’s just something about the Noles playing in Raliegh that always makes for a great game.
LA Tech vs. Auburn – Yeah…didn’t watch a lick of this game.
Arkansas vs. Texas A&M – This was Arkansas’ game to win and they let it slip away. Give them another year and all will be right in Fayettville again.
Baylor vs. Iowa State – Why are we not talking more about Bryce Petty?
Notre Dame vs. Syracuse – Notre Dame looks damn good. Everett Gholson is my Heisman front runner right now.
Wyoming vs. Michigan State – While everyone is running the spread offense, Michigan State be like….SMASH MOUTH.
Memphis vs. Ole Miss – The score of 3 – 24 doesn’t say so, but this was closer than it looked. Ole Miss got caught looking ahead to their matchup with Bama this weekend.
Tennessee vs. Georgia – Great traditional SEC game. Tennessee is one year away. Todd Gurley may have been the best back on the field on Saturday but when it’s all said and done, Jalen Hurd will be a better pro.
Missouri vs. South Carolina – What the hell is up with South Carolina?
Stanford vs. Washington – Stanford got caught looking ahead to Notre Dame next weekend.
New Mexico State vs. LSU – I didn’t watch a lick of this game.
Oregon State vs. USC – The Men of Troy might be back. Everything should be a smooth horse trot until their last two games against UCLA and Notre Dame.
South Florida vs. Wisconsin – The Badgers don’t get enough credit for being a great football program. They’re better than Michigan and Penn State in the last ten years.
Illinois vs. Nebraska – Forget the game….did you see the jerseys the Cornhuskers were rocking!?!?!
Cincy vs. Ohio State – The football DNA of Ohio is all Columbus.
NFL
Giants vs. Redskins – And just like that, the Giants aren’t so bad and Kirk Cousins isn’t that good. Welcome to the NFL.
Packers vs. Bears – Aaron Rodgers does himself no favors when he plays like an alien sent from football planet, Lombardiaki. It’s like feeding the animals in the zoo. When Rodgers plays like this the fans and media are only going to want more consistency out of him.
Bills vs. Texans – I think it’s a mistake to be pulling E.J. Manuel this early. Be realistic, you’re not going to win the Super Bowl. They should give him time to grow.
Colts vs. Titans – How lucky is the city of Indianapolis? Peyton Manning and then Andrew Luck. That’s like the Bulls drafting Kobe Bryant the year Jordan retired.
Panthers vs. Ravens – The only people surprised by Steve Smith Sr’s performance on Sunday are the people that doubted him after last season.
Lions vs. Jets – I really fell sorry for Geno Smith. There’s really not much difference between him and Nick Foles. You can’t help what parents you’re born too or what team you’re drafted too.
Bucs vs. Steelers – Antonio Brown a top 10 WRs yet? And, Mike Glennon should have been the starting QB since minicamp.
Dolphins vs. Raiders – Will the Raiders ever be good again? The NFL hasn’t done them any favors with their travel schedule either.
Jaguars vs. Chargers – Philip Rivers got that old thing back. He’s completing over 75% of his passes lol.
Falcons vs. Vikings – Teddy Bridgewater was the last pick in the 2014 draft….when the Redraft articles for this year’s draft class pop up in five years, we’ll be saying Bridgewater should have been the 1st pick.
Eagles vs. 49ers – For the 49ers defense to play this well with so many starters either suspended or not healthy is absolutely amazing.
Saints vs. Cowboys – Demarco Murray is the best running back in the NFL right now. He’s also running behind the best line.
